On May 31st, Jim Black Construction again participated in the Frank Varra Memorial Golf Tournament. The tournament was originally scheduled for May 16th, but it had to be postponed due to rain, cold, and general golf-adverse weather. Following Memorial Day, things went much smoother with significantly warmer weather.
The Frank Varra Memorial Foundation services members of fire and police, primarily in the northern section of the Denver Metro area, in the event of a tragedy. When a fire fighter or police officer is injured or killed, the members of the foundation come in to assist with funds for the family in their time of need, whether that is medical bills, memorial services, or something special for the children having to deal with family trauma. Helping people at some of their roughest moments is a cause close to our heart, so we are extremely lucky and proud to be a part of this organization.
The tournament took over the Omni Interlocken Golf Course, taking advantage of their three courses to spread out participants and keep their time in the sun manageable. Breakfast burritos were served before the tournament during the welcome speech. Top Management Jim and Jimmy Black, in addition to Communications Coordinator, Selena, manned the Jim Black Construction tables set up at the starting grounds to interact with the various participants and hand out merchandise. Several JBC Project Managers also played in the tournament.
Afterwards, a catered lunch was provided and awards were presented. Awards were given to the standard men’s and women’s overall scores, closest to the pin, longest drive, and other performance-related activities, in addition to raffle prizes including new golf clubs. Our very own Bryan Keberlein won one of the longest drive competitions.
Overall, the Frank Varra Memorial Golf Tournament was an outstanding success and we are excited for our continued participation in the foundation’s efforts.
