Jim Black Construction was a proud Silver Sponsor of the “Phoenix Life Saving Award Ceremony” put on by the Aurora Fire Department on Wednesday, November 19th, 2014. The event, taking place at the Summit Event Center in Aurora, was to honor fire crews who have saved community members lives in 2013 through September of 2014. Opening remarks were by Aurora’s Mayor, Steve Hogan, and City Manager, Skip Noe. The 2013 Phoenix Awards were presented by Captain Wendy Lippman and the 2014 Awards were bestowed by Captain Diane Lord. Guest Speakers included Sue Klaus and Chief Kraig Stovall. It was an, understandably, emotional ceremony, but one of the most memorable events we at Jim Black Construction have sponsored. In addition to our owner, Jim Black, and several of our project managers, we were honored to have three battalion chiefs accompany us at our table. The criteria for those receiving this award are: the patient is not breathing and does not have a heartbeat; the crew performs a successful resuscitation of the patient by providing the appropriate lifesaving interventions; and the patient is able to walk out of the hospital without any deficits from the event. More than twenty instances of this level of life-saving action by fire crews were honored during the event.
The Aurora Fire Department, like all the fire departments we work with, is constantly striving to meet the needs of their community through their actions and delivery of service. We are delighted to work with many of the firefighters, chiefs, and shift commanders at the Aurora Fire Department and so flattered that they would allow us to be a part of this momentous event. We look forward to our continued relationship with this dedicated fire department and will continue to support their heroism.[slideshow_deploy id=’435′]
