“More than 2,900 contractors, insurance carrier representatives and service provider partners attended the recent Crawford Contractor Connection(R) Conference & Expo, setting another attendance record for the popular invitation-only event. During the three days of the conference, industry trends, technology, catastrophe response and more were explored by attendees from the U.S. and Canada.” –via MarketWatch
This year’s 16th annual Contractor Connection Conference was held in New Orleans. On hand for Jim Black Construction was Owner Jim and Lead Project Manager (and Jim’s son) Jimmy. Taking place the weekend of June 10th, the conference had lots of information, workshops, and, of course, Mardi Gras inspired fun.
This year’s theme, “RISE UP- Plan, Perform, Prosper,” focused on the need to rise to the occasion, during the biggest disasters, by all of the Contractor Connection network partners. In keeping with that school of thought, the Keynote Speaker was General Russel Honoré. Hailed as the ‘Category 5 General’ by media, General Honoré led Task Force Katrina in the aftermath of the 2005 hurricane that devastated large parts of the Gulf Coast, including New Orleans. In his presentation, titled “Be Prepared,” General Honoré discussed his thoughts and tips on leadership and preparedness in today’s world. (PropertyCasualty360.com has a great synopsis of the presentation here.) All this coincides with his most recent book release Leadership in the New Normal.
During the conference, Jim Black Construction was honored with Contractor Connection’s prestigious Golden Hammer Award. The award is given to contractors ranking in the top 100 of Crawford’s more than 4,000 contractors in the United States and Canada. The award criteria are based on elements such as time in process, timeliness of customer contact and job completion, customer service ratings, and professionalism. Our ranking also placed us in the top three General Contractors in the Mountain States region, which encompasses Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. Ultimately, we were not named #1 in our region, but it’s always a great compliment to be in the top three of such a long list of excellence. We will certainly strive to continue to provide the same high level of service or higher in the coming year.
With the combination of golf, charity auctions, dinners, and opening and closing events, there’s a plethora of photos from the event this year. We hope you enjoy our slideshow above, but there are more at Contract Connection’s Facebook page and their Google+ page.
We look forward to next year’s conference and the continued chance to serve our clients, both within and outside of the Crawford program, for the next year!
